I am thrilled to TALK ABOUT the Black Diamond Apollo camping lantern. I have owned a few of these battery powered units even the much revered Glorb led lantern by Brunton. The very cool things about the Apollo are the feet that set it up off a surface and fold up to make it compact. I noticed that the small detail of the rubber tips on the feet keep it from slipping. Then there is the 3 watt bulb and frosted lexan globe that disburses the light evenly. BD even thought of putting a dimmer function in that makes it even more sexy. Then there are the batteries. Don’t we all hate throwing out double AA’s by the handful? Black Diamond makes the NRG Rechargeable battery kit that can be used with the Apollo. For you solar powered folks, We are still looking for the adapter that will hook it up to a solar charger. Of course you can always use your current rechargeable batteries too.
